MODULE 5: Shared Responsibility

Supporting All Stakeholders

As teachers and leaders we work within a vast system to support all students. Not only do students need academic, but also emotional and social, support. This importance was highlighted by a review of numerous Ministry of Education resources, and I especially found Supporting Minds to contain a wealth of information and practical resources for teachers.

Developing a student support protocol for my school helped me to address the various support needs of our students and envision how I would pull together the various supports and resources available to our students.

Developing autonomous learners is crucial for student success. Students become much more motivated, and learn much more deeply, when they have a stake in what and how they are learning. Developing an inquiry lesson for a teacher in our school helped me to study the merits of inquiry based learning, apply it in a practical setting, and pass on this knowledge in a user-friendly format to a new teacher at my school.
